Grooved Brain Coral
Diploria labyrinthiformisThe Grooved Brain Coral can have shallow, closely formed grooves, or deep widely spaced grooves. The valleys are separated by a broad ridges that have a valley in the center. Colonies can be yellow, golden brown, tan and brown. Colonies grown in water depths from 3 feet to 135 feet. They are round or dome shaped. Colonies range in size from several inches to over 3 feet in diameter. The tiny polyps can be out during the day, but are difficult to see because they are very tiny. .
