Orangespotted Filefish
Cantherhines pullusThe orange spots that give this filefish it's name are not always obvious. They can pale or darken and sometimes have bluish and/or yellow lines radiating from their nose back to edges of their face. The white spot on their spine behind the dorsal fin is always observed. Found in depthe fo 3-more feet. Faily shy and will not often hange around for long once they spot you. They can grow to about 7 inches. They have a dewlap on thier chest that they can extend (see 2nd picture) as do most filefishes. A dewlap is an extendable piece of skin on their belly that they can extend and retract much like the spike they have for their front dorsal fin.
