Sergeant Major

Abudefduf saxatilis

The Sergeant Major is part of the Damselfish family. And like other Damselfish, are very territorial. The males guard the eggs and when doing so take on a dark blue color and will charge at you if you come to close. Their normal coloring is a a blue/silver, with upper body white with yellow wash down the spine area and 5 black body bars They occupy depths of 1 to 40 feet, the younger the fish, the shallower the habitat.
