Sharpnose Pufferfish

They are named for their ability to inflate themselves to several times their normal size by swallowing water or air when threatened. They have small, almost sandpaper-like spines.   The Sharpnose is a small fish of only about 4 inches in length when full grown.  Look for them hiding near erect sponges and sea plumes, mangrove roots and sea grass beds.
