Split Pore Sea Rods

Plexaurella sp.

When polyps are retracted the apertures are seen to be slits rather than circular. One recognizable trait is that the rods are generally thick and often bend over because of their own weight. Found in both clear and turbid calm water, at a depth of 3 feet or more.
